Weisman Art Museum (WAM) has partnered with Twin Cities-based company, Capption, to offer visitors better access to the artwork and information in the museum. The app is a web-based platform that provides users with instant translation into more than 100 languages, adjustments of text sizing, and alt text for art work in the galleries. They also plan to offer verbal description and audio in the near future through the app.
This will make WAM more accessible for everyone, including non-native speakers, those with visual impairments, people with social anxieties and others.
